FINAL BEACH PARTY, PUCCINI OPERA AND ALL-STAR EATS

It’s fall, y’all. The kids are back in school, the evenings are starting a little earlier, and whiffs of pumpkin spice are beginning to fill the air. There are a few warm days left, but autumn is creeping in.
Here are some suggestions to fill your Labor Day weekend.
If you like music: The Crow’s Nest restaurant’s final beach party of the season is tonight, with funk legend SambaDa starting at 5:30 p.m. Italian composer Giacomo Puccini’s opera “The Girl of the Golden West” is coming to Santa Cruz for four shows over the next two weekends, starting with a 7 p.m. show on Friday. Tickets are $20 to $51.75. In Scotts Valley, Hawaiian musician Weldon Kekauoha comes to the Landing Performing Arts Center on Sunday for a fundraiser for hula school Kuhai Santa Cruz. Tickets are $35 to $45.
If you love food: Two foodie forces of nature, event company Collective Santa Cruz and influencer Daniel J West, aka Double Meat Please, have teamed up to create a food festival offering epic eats. The Best of the Best All-Star Fest will bring 80 food vendors to Highway 17 Studios in Santa Cruz from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday. The event is free to enter. – Lily Belli
