‘LOST BOYS,’ JUNETEETH, FOODIE FUN

One of Santa Cruz’s ultimate movie nights returns to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk tomorrow. “The Lost Boys,” the cult-classic vampire flick filmed in Santa Cruz in 1986, will be shown on Main Beach at 9 p.m. Entrance is free – don’t forget your blanket, low-backed chair and garlic necklace. (Don’t miss Lookout contributor Jana Marcus’ stunning series on the film and its Broadway adaptation. Read Part 1 here and Part 2 here, with Part 3 coming, fittingly, tomorrow.)
On Saturday, head to Laurel Street Park in downtown Santa Cruz for a Juneteenth Celebration, an all-day festival marking Black liberation and freedom with dancing, music, poetry, crafts and soul food from noon to 6 p.m.
There’s plenty to delight foodies this weekend. On Saturday morning, the Santa Cruz Community Farmers’ Markets will host its first pop-up brunch of the season at the Westside location, with a multicourse meal prepared by chef Diego Felix. Tickets are on a sliding scale from $80 to $150. That evening, explore and celebrate homebrewing culture at the DIYine Homebrewing Festival at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Santa Cruz. Tickets are $35.
On Sunday, roving dinner party Outstanding in the Field will set up along the creek at Everett Family Farm in Soquel with guest chef Kim Alter from San Francisco’s Nightbird restaurant. Tickets are $390. – Lily Belli
