The great Texas honky tonk rebel Dale Watson is set to perform at Moe’s Alley on July 25 with his band the Lone Stars. The amazing R&B man known as Fantastic Negrito will be playing live at Felton Music Hall on Sept. 7. Jamaican dancehall veteran Barrington Levy comes to The Catalyst on June 28. And, he’s a physician and an author, not to mention a Guggenheim Fellow: Bestselling writer Abraham Verghese comes to the Rio on June 8 to discuss his latest epic novel, “The Covenant of Water.”

First Friday: Here we go with First Friday again. April’s First Friday may give you the chance to visit somewhere you’ve never been before, like the Santa Cruz Hostel, up on Beach Hill, featuring the sculptures of Jeff Arnett with live music. If you’re into chocolate, Yes Cacao is ready for its grand opening with a big community chocolate-making event, in the Santa Cruz Art Center building. M.K. Contemporary Art on Front Street looks at alternative photographic processes in a show called “Divergent Visions.” There’s so much more happening. Jump in and experience it.
