Jennifer Holm has resigned as a member of the Pajaro Valley Unified School District board of trustees effective Oct. 10, the district announced Tuesday evening.

Holm, a former president of the board, has represented Area 7 on the board for the past six years. There are two years left on her term. According to a release from the district, she cited the “increasing demands” of her job as director of the nursing program at Cabrillo College.

“It has been my honor to serve as the Trustee for Area VII on the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board for nearly six years,” Holm said in a resignation statement. “However, over the last year, I have observed my work demands coming into increasing conflict with my Board responsibilities. After much reflection, I believe my commitment to serving the community will be best expressed by focusing on my Cabrillo College Nursing Program Director role.”

Before joining the school board, Holm was a parent in the district for more than 20 years, starting with her oldest child entering Rio Del Mar Elementary School in 2003. Her youngest is now a student at Aptos High School.

In addition to serving two terms as president of the board and one as vice president, Holm was an active member of the Pajaro Valley Education Foundation committee and the district’s Special Education Local Plan Area Community Advisory Committee.

Her resignation comes less than two months before voters will decide competitive races for trustee seats representing Areas 2, 3 and 6 on the PVUSD board.

In its release Tuesday, the school district announced that the board would kick off a process aimed at appointing someone to Holm’s seat within 60 days. That person would fill Holm’s term through December 2026 before the seat is before voters again two years from now.
