Cal Fire postponed a planned pile burning in Soquel Demonstration State Forest that was set to begin Tuesday. The agency said “unfavorable” wind conditions could “intensify local smoke impacts” in the area.
Cal Fire said the planned burn would be postponed until at least early January, depending on weather conditions. The burn is expected to last for two to three weeks.
California State Parks is also planning to conduct prescribed burns at The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park starting in early December and continuing through late January.
The prescribed pile burning will happen across 60 acres of the forest, the agency said. Sections of Aptos Creek Fire Road could be temporarily closed, including to pedestrians and cyclists.
