Ready your trash-grabbers for the second annual Pitch In All Santa Cruz Cleanup Day on Saturday, May 10. Organizations, local schools and neighborhood groups will be hosting cleanup events all over the county.

During last year’s cleanup day, more than 430 volunteers removed over 1,500 pounds of trash from beaches, parks and creeks.

Supplies will be provided for volunteers. Those interested in helping can join an existing cleanup site or create their own.

“Pitch In is about more than just picking up trash,” founder Sally-Christine Rodgers said in a news release. “It’s about showing up for our neighbors, our wildlife and our environment. When we work together, we build a cleaner, healthier community.”
