The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office and about 80 to 100 search-and-rescue team members are in their third day of searching for a 73-year-old woman who went missing Tuesday afternoon near the Felton quarry.
Jeanne Burke was most recently seen Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the area of Moore Ranch Road and was wearing a red and black plaid jacket, black pants, one pink sandal and one black sandal. Burke is 5 feet tall, of a medium build, with long grey hair, blue eyes, and wears glasses.
“Due to medical reasons, we are concerned for Jeanne’s safety,” sheriff’s deputies said in a news release on Tuesday.
Thursday marks the third day local officials have been searching for Burke. The search-and-rescue team members include people from outside counties who came to help.
“We are asking residents in the Smith Grade, Moore Ranch Road and surrounding areas to please review their properties, including any cameras, search outbuildings and inspect any sheds they may have,” officials said, adding that search-and-rescue volunteers and deputies could be in those areas and might be trying to access properties as part of their search.
The sheriff’s office is asking people in those areas to check their property and security camera footage for signs of Burke. Anyone with information about Burke’s location is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office dispatch at 831-471-1121.
