April is National Volunteer Month, a time to recognize the power of giving back and the strength we build when we take action together. At Community Bridges, we believe that real change happens when individuals come together to support their neighbors. Whether it’s delivering meals, mentoring youth, or ensuring families have access to nutritious food, every volunteer effort strengthens our community.

This month, take a stand for justice, compassion, and community—find the volunteer opportunity that speaks to you and be the impact Santa Cruz County needs.

Delivering Meals to Seniors: Nourish More Than Just Bodies

For many older adults in Santa Cruz County, a Meals on Wheels delivery is more than just food—it’s a lifeline. Volunteers don’t just drop off meals; they offer human connection, wellness checks, and reassurance to seniors facing isolation.

Your Impact: Meals on Wheels volunteers contribute $200,000 of value annually, ensuring that funding goes directly to feeding more seniors in need.
How You Can Help: Commit to a few hours each week delivering meals and combat hunger and loneliness for local seniors.

Take Action: Sign up now to deliver meals and bring hope to the doorstep of an older adult in need.

Empower a Child, Transform a Community

Mentoring Youth for a Brighter Future

Every child deserves opportunity, guidance, and support—and you can be the mentor who provides that. At Nueva Vista Community Resources and Live Oak Community Resources, volunteers help kids with homework, recreational activities, and life skills to build resilience and confidence.

Your Impact: With more than 1,800 hours of youth programming each year, volunteers help keep kids engaged, learning, and growing.
How You Can Help: Join our Summer Fun or after-school programs and be a trusted mentor to local youth.

Take Action: Be the role model kids need—volunteer today to inspire the next generation.

No Child Should Go Hungry—Lend a Hand

Keeping Kids Fed and Nourished

For many children in our community, summer break means losing access to school meals, their primary source of nutrition. Through the Summer Lunch Program at La Manzana Community Resources, we ensure that no child in South Santa Cruz County goes hungry when school is out.

Your Impact: Over the past three years, our program has served thousands of meals, giving kids the nourishment they need to thrive, learn, and grow.
How You Can Help: Volunteer to serve meals this summer and ensure no child is left behind.

Take Action: Join us in the fight against childhood hunger—your time can change a child’s future.
