California redistricting: What to know about the final maps and what it means for Santa Cruz County

California voters have the brand new districts they’ll use to elect their members of Congress and state legislators, after the state’s independent redistricting commission voted unanimously Monday night to approve its final maps. These districts take effect with the June 2022 primaries and continue for the next decade.

UCSC provides updated guidelines for beginning of winter quarter, including booster mandate deadline

Citing the need to test returning students and concerns over the Omicron variant, UC Santa Cruz told instructors in an email last week that administrators plan to start the winter 2022 quarter with two weeks of online instruction in early January. The University of California system will also mandate boosters for eligible students and staff.

Hector Borjas had “zero experience” with the homeless population when he began as a supervisor at the Santa Cruz Veterans Hall in August 2020.
