Three Monterey men ID’d as occupants of small plane that crashed off coast of Pacific Grove

Three Monterey County men perished after a twin-engine Beechcraft aircraft crashed into the waters off Pacific Grove near Point Pinos Saturday night.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the three occupants as Steve Eugene Clatterbuck, 60, of Salinas, Jamie Lee Tabscott, 44, of Monterey and James Vincent, 36, of Monterey.

The plane departed from San Carlos airport before encountering difficulties that led to the crash, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a press release. Search and rescue operations have involved multiple agencies working alongside the Coast Guard.

The National Transportation Safety Board said on social media that it has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Cal Fire, Pacific Grove Police Department, Monterey Fire Department and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office all assisted in the response to the incident.
