Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on May 15

  • There was a traffic incident at the intersection of Highway 1 North and Buena Vista in Watsonville/Pajaro. The California Highway Patrol assisted with construction there. Officer Rodriguez was in the same vehicle with another officer until 6:00 a.m. the following day. This was reported today.
     
  • A traffic collision happened at the intersection of Lewis Rd and Del Piero Dr in Watsonville/Pajaro. A speeding vehicle tried to pass on a blind curve, went off the road, and landed in a ditch about 20 feet from the road. The vehicle was on its side and not visible from the road. The driver got out and told a witness to leave. No injuries were reported. The incident was reported today.
     
  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for roadway excavation. The closure will last until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for the SCWD and SLVWD pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue is closed for the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. On April 12-13, construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
