Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on May 20

  • Road work is happening at Soquel Ave. and Park Way, causing one-way traffic in both directions. This will continue until 5:00 a.m. today.
     
  • There is road work on Highway 1 North at 41st Avenue in Capitola, with the California Highway Patrol assisting. Additionally, Soquel Drive from Porter to Park is under construction, causing one-way traffic in both directions. This was reported today.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for road excavation. The closure will last until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     
  • The northbound Highway 1 offramp at Soquel Drive in Capitola/Soquel was closed for construction yesterday. The work is part of a project to add auxiliary lanes, bus-on-shoulder improvements, and a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue.
     
  • There was a traffic incident on Highway 1 North at Buena Vista in Watsonville/Pajaro. The northbound lane #1 was closed from Buena Vista to Mar Monte until 1:30 a.m. today due to construction.
     
  • There was a construction-related traffic incident at the intersection of Highway 9 and Glen Arbor Road in San Lorenzo Valley. The California Highway Patrol assisted with the situation. This was reported today.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue in Eastside/Live Oak are experiencing road closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures, weather permitting. Construction is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with specific work on April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
