Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on May 14

  • Highway 1 South at Park Avenue in Capitola/Soquel is closed. The southbound lane 1 from Park Avenue to State Park was scheduled to close at 9:00 p.m., with a possible traffic break between 9:05 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. This was reported today.
     
  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for roadway excavation. The closure will end at 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     
  • There was a traffic incident today at the intersection of Highway 1 North and Buena Vista in Watsonville/Pajaro. The California Highway Patrol assisted with a construction-related issue.
     
  • A gray Dodge Charger Scatpack collided with a guard rail and ended up on a tree in Scotts Valley. An individual at the scene was suspected of being under the influence. Fire services were present, and PG&E was asked to check a nearby pole. The incident was last updated at 9:29 p.m. today.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane is closed on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, due to a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue is closed for the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., weather permitting. On April 12-13, construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
