Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on Apr. 16

  • There was a traffic incident on Highway 1 Southbound at Mar Monte in Aptos. Lanes #1 and #2 were closed from Larkin Valley to Buena Vista due to construction. The incident was reported at 7:03 p.m. and updated at 9:30 p.m. today.
     
  • Traffic control is ongoing on Highway 236 in Santa Cruz County for vegetation control work. This is part of a project to manage vegetation and reduce wildfire risk.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road, between Brook Knoll Road and 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue are experiencing road closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures in this area, weather permitting. Construction activities were scheduled for April 12-13, with work occurring from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
     
  • Green Valley Road, from Holohan Road to Mesa Verde Road in Watsonville/Pajaro, will have single lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Expect delays or find another route. The work should be done by April 30, weather permitting.
     
  • A single lane on Soquel Drive, from Cotton Lane to Porter Street, is closed for the Soquel Village Emergency Sewer Project. The closure is in effect from March 25 to May 9, with work happening on weeknights only from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
     
  • A single lane on Little Basin Rd in San Lorenzo Valley is closed from December 23 to April 25 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for the construction of two retaining walls, causing traffic delays.
     
  • Little Basin Road near Big Basin Way in San Lorenzo Valley is having storm damage repairs, causing single lane closures and traffic delays. The work is happening from January 16 to May 13, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., depending on the weather.
