More than 150 classic cars with wooden bodies, known as “woodies,” will gather on the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf on Saturday for the 28th annual Woodies on the Wharf.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m., culminating in the 3:30 p.m. parade of woodies driving from the wharf. In celebration of surf and woodie culture, activities include surfboard shaping demos, live surf music, a raffle and themed art from local vendors.
At 11:30 a.m., there will be a half-hour hula performance at the Commons Stage by Kūhai Hālau O Mehanakealohakalaua’eikapoli Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko, an all-women’s local Hawaiian dance school.
While parking is limited, a free bike valet will be available behind the Santa Cruz Boat Rentals.
Valet service is provided by the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project. Woodies on the Wharf is a product of a collaboration between the Santa Cruz chapter of the National Woodie Club and Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation.
