California State Parks will conduct prescribed burns on 400 acres at Wilder Ranch State Park in Santa Cruz over the next two weeks and expects to temporarily close portions of Chinquapin Trail, Long Meadow Trail and Englesman Loop Trail.
Highway 1 construction will mean ramp and lane closures this week
Daytime ramp closures and overnight lane closures are planned this week as construction continues on a project to add north and southbound auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements on Highway 1 between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive interchanges and construct of a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue in Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz police receive grant for bicycle and pedestrian program
The Santa Cruz Police Department announced Tuesday that it has received a $72,714 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support the department’s bicycle and pedestrian safety program through September 2025.
