Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz returns to the Westside this weekend. The race — which includes a 1.2-mile ocean swim around the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, a 56-mile bike ride up on Highway 1 and a half-marathon along West Cliff Drive to agricultural fields north of town and back — starts at 7 a.m. on Sunday at Main Beach. Pre-race events start on Friday afternoon and run through Saturday, so be aware of traffic impacts in the area as athletes race and their fans cheer them on. – Lily Belli
