The Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County is holding a veterans career event on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon at Station 5, 6934 Soquel Dr. in Aptos. The goal is to help veterans, transitioning service members and eligible military-connected family members build careers in both public and fire services.

Participants will hear from Central Fire veterans about how they transitioned from military service to the fire service. They’ll also learn how to translate military experience into crafting a strong résumé and develop practical job-interview skills.

A few opportunities include working as a firefighter, a paramedic, an EMT, a fire inspector or various administrative roles.

The Central Fire District serves Live Oak, Capitola, Soquel, Aptos, Rio Del Mar and La Selva Beach.

Preference is available to qualified applicants who were honorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces. Further information about eligibility and what supporting documentation may be required can be found here, or via email at veteranscommittee@centralfiresc.org.
