The Santa Cruz County Parks department is proposing a pay-for-parking pilot program at high-traffic area parks.

The program would help mitigate a $38,000 decrease in total revenue, due to the removal of a one-time state grant, according to the proposed 2026-27 budget

The list of parks that will charge for parking has not been finalized.

The parking fee will be $5 daily, with a $50 annual parking pass option, with discounts available for public assistance recipients.

While the pilot program is planned for the coming fiscal year, it hasn’t been determined when the program will kick off or for how long.

The program is expected to bring in $260,000 a year.
