Highway 1 near Aptos will see overnight closures Sunday and Monday night for construction of a new pedestrian overcrossing at Mar Vista Drive. The overcrossing is part of a larger, multi-year effort to widen Highway 1, add auxiliary lanes and partial bus-on-shoulder lanes, and build new pedestrian infrastructure.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, northbound Highway 1 will be fully closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Travelers may take the State Park Drive off-ramp to Soquel Drive and take the Park Avenue on-ramp to continue on Highway 1.

On Monday, Sept. 21, southbound Highway 1 will be fully closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The detour will be at the Park Avenue off-ramp, which drivers can take to Soquel Drive, and then to the State Park Drive on-ramp to continue on Highway 1.

Directional signs will be posted for travelers before the areas under construction.
