Quick Take

Friday's rush-hour crash resulted in four injuries, including the bus driver. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to a Santa Cruz Metro spokesperson.

A Santa Cruz Metro bus was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision that injured four on Friday morning on Highway 17.

At about 7:15 a.m., one of Metro’s Highway 17 Express buses got into an accident on northbound Highway 17 near Los Gatos, according to Metro spokesperson Danielle Glagola. Of the 10 passengers and one driver on board, four were injured, including the driver. They were taken to a San Jose-area hospital. Glagola said she did not know their conditions but the injuries “appear to be minor.”

The other seven passengers on the bus stayed on scene, where they were picked up by another Metro bus to continue their trip to San Jose’s Diridon Station.

Glagola said the cause of the accident is still unknown, and California Highway Patrol is currently investigating. CHP did not respond to a request for comment on the accident.

A Mercury News report said that the bus had run into standstill traffic on its way to San Jose, and could not stop in time, causing it to collide with six other vehicles. It also said that the bus had been towed and the remaining passengers were picked up by 11:26 a.m.
