What a great idea to do a series focusing on the artists of Santa Cruz County.

I loved that in “Made in Santa Cruz: Why Art Matters,” you are including videos, which will give us a real feel for the artists and their art. I also appreciated the link to the many murals around Santa Cruz County. I hope more people seek them out. 

It’s really tough to make a living as an artist in our county, given that it’s the most expensive community in the United States when compared with the median income. Being a “starving artist” might sound romantic, but reality says that we stand to lose some of our most creative people simply because they can’t afford to live here.

I hope your series inspires readers (and their friends and families) to purchase real art instead of cheap reproductions.

I’m looking forward to learning more about my fellow artists.
