Logjam!, the world’s longest running vintage longboard event, is back. The surf contest will be at Pleasure Point Beach in Santa Cruz on April 26 and 27 this year.
Hosted by Big Stick Surfing Association, the contest brings more than 100 contestants and thousands of spectators from all over California. It’s an official Coalition of Surfing Clubs contest, attracting competitive or “shredding” long boarders from throughout the western states.
The event will feature impressive surfing, local vendors, and surf rock tunes into a fun day for shredders and spectators alike.
This year, it will again hold a hometown raffle for prizes including six local surfboards and wetsuits. Over the years, the raffle has raised about $175,000 for local nonprofits and the Big Stick Surfing Association Scholarship Fund. Raffle ticket pre-sales are available online.
“Logjam! attracts surfers from around the country. We are somehow always lucky with beautiful weather and surf. Pleasure Point is a classic point break and people just love to come here. Our club and the community around Pleasure Point have a lot of pride in this contest, and it all comes together to create this wonderful aloha spirit,” says David Harnish, president of Big Stick Surfing Association.
Surfers from across the state will bring classic old boards, required to be pre-1970 construction and over 25 pounds. Leashes are not allowed.
