Road incidents as of 8:30 p.m. on January 5
- A large tree fell and blocked the road at White Rd and Gillette Rd in Aptos at 8:08 p.m. today. There were no downed wires or vehicles involved. County Roads was called to clear the tree.
- Eureka Canyon at Las Colinas in Santa Cruz County, Aptos, was fully closed to traffic at 8:15 p.m. on January 4. The closure is expected to last until the morning of November 4.
- A white BMW went off the road and hit an embankment at Highway 9 and Rincon Railroad on the Westside near Downtown around 7:48 p.m. today. Emergency services responded, and all lanes were closed for a short time. Although there were initial concerns about injuries, the incident was later classified as a non-injury collision. The vehicle was moved off the roadway.
- A traffic hazard was reported at 7:32 p.m. today on northbound Highway 17 at Sugarloaf Rd in Scotts Valley. Small rocks, including one the size of a basketball, were found in the left lane and caused a white 2005 Audi TT to break down due to suspension damage.
