Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • Starting Monday, Nov. 16, the on- and off-ramps at State Park Drive and Highway 1 will be closed for a long-term construction project. Crews are building new auxiliary lanes and making bus improvements between the Bay Avenue/Porter Street and State Park Drive interchanges.

Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is currently reviewing a proposal to renew an existing permit for a vacation rental at 230 Rio Del Mar Blvd., #D, in the Aptos Planning Area. This application seeks approval for a Vacation Rental Renewal Permit, which would allow the property to continue operating as a non-hosted short-term rental, with overnight lodging permitted for stays of up to 30 days at a time. Residents who wish to provide input or express concerns about this zoning application must submit their public comments to the Planning Department by Nov. 9. (view application)
