Highway 1 will have overnight closures for construction between Capitola and Aptos: northbound Sunday-Tuesday, southbound Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Detours via Soquel Drive are advised.

Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • The alternating lanes on North Highway 1 at 41st Avenue are closed for a striping operation. The closure will last until 4:59 a.m. on May 5.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 1 are completely closed for roadwork. This closure will continue until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     
  • A lane on North Highway 17 at Spanish Bit Chapel in Scotts Valley is closed for tree work. The closure is expected to end at 12:01 p.m. today.
     
  • Long-term projects: A single lane on Soquel Drive, between Cotton Lane and Porter Street, is closed for the Soquel Village Emergency Sewer Project. The closure started on March 13 and will continue until May 9. Work is happening on weeknights only, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., and switched to night work on March 25.

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Anna Jean Cummings Park at 461 Old San Jose Rd, Soquel, passed a county health inspection on April 25 with no critical issues.
     
  • Main Street Elementary at 3400 N Main St., Soquel, passed a county health inspection on April 25 with no critical issues.
