Property development

  • On Aug. 17, the Santa Cruz County Planning Department formally approved a zoning application for a project at 70 Sunset Beach Rd. in Watsonville. The approved project will replace a failed agricultural well (well #4), currently located adjacent to San Andreas Road, with a new well situated approximately 700 feet south of the original site, adjacent to Sunset Beach Drive. The project, which required a Coastal Development Permit, calls for the new well to feature a 16-inch casing and a 16-inch stainless screen, with the final design to be determined following exploratory drilling.
