Max Chun brings us the latest on an Ocean Street housing development proposed by a subsidiary of real estate giant Trammell Crow. The developer says it is committed to continuing with the project near Marianne’s Ice Cream, but is in talks with the city about scaling back the size of the building due to concerns over cost and to better fit with the neighborhood.
In Watsonville, airport officials are reviewing three applications to take over the space where Ella’s at the Airport welcomed diners for more than a decade, before abruptly closing in June. The successful applicant would also be able to purchase the restaurant’s full liquor license. The airport’s manager told Lily Belli he is aiming to have the space filled by the end of the year.
Lily also has the scoop on popular Pleasure Point burrito spot The Point Market opening a location in Scotts Valley at a location previously occupied by Flashbird. The restaurant’s third outpost comes with some expanded offerings, including a smash burger that is already drawing crowds.
Let’s explore today’s stories in depth.
