Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department has received a zoning application for a proposed project at 23 Mound Avenue in the San Lorenzo Valley Planning Area. The application seeks approval to operate a new two-bedroom vacation rental within an existing single-family home, allowing overnight stays of up to 30 days at a time. The property is situated on the north side of Mound Avenue, approximately 500 feet from the intersection with Pine Avenue. Approval of the project would require the issuance of a vacation rental permit. (view application)

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • A “Notice and Order” has been issued for the property at 24 Park Way, Mt Hermon, CA 95041, following the processing of case number NV25346 on February 20. The violations cited include the replacement of windows and the construction of retaining walls without first obtaining the required permits from the county. Both actions are considered violations of local building codes, as proper permits are necessary to ensure safety and compliance with county regulations.
