Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • South Highway 9 near Lorenzo Avenue in Ben Lomond is down to one-way traffic because of emergency work. This closure is scheduled to last until 3:59 p.m. on April 1.
     
  • A traffic collision involving up to five vehicles, including a big rig, happened on northbound Highway 1 at Freedom Boulevard in Aptos. Two were reportedly speeding before the crash. Several vehicles had airbags deploy, and at least one had major front-end damage. All vehicles were moved to the right-hand shoulder. Emergency services, including fire and California Highway Patrol, responded to the scene.  

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Boulder Creek Elementary at 400 Lomond St., Boulder Creek, passed a county health inspection on March 25 with no critical issues.
