Roadwork is affecting traffic in the region

  • There is a one-way traffic closure on South Highway 9 at Lorenzo Avenue in San Lorenzo Valley because of emergency work. The closure will last until April 1.
     
  • South Highway 1 at Soquel Drive in Eastside / Live Oak is facing closures for K-rail installation. The closure is expected to end at 5:59 a.m. today.
     
  • There are alternating lane closures on Highway 9 at Pool Drive in San Lorenzo Valley because of bridge work. The closures are expected to end at 4:59 p.m. today.
     
  • One lane of North Highway 9 at Encinal Street in the Westside/Downtown area is closed for shoulder work. The closure will last until February 28 at 3:01 p.m.
     
  • A medium-sized animal carrier with a bird flying around it was seen on the right shoulder of Highway 1 South at 41st Ave. in Eastside / Live Oak. No vehicles were stopped at the scene. The incident was reported on Feb 1. 

Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Hilton Santa Cruz/scotts Valley at 6001 La Madrona Dr, Santa Cruz, passed a county health inspection on January 30 with no critical issues.
     

No crimes to report today

We checked with local police and there were no new incidents to report.
