Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

  • Today, there was a traffic accident at San Juan Rd / Tarpey Rd involving a red semi, a white semi, a United Rentals truck, and a car that looks like an old police vehicle. No one was hurt. The white semi ended up partly blocking the road, but it’s not clear if it was actually part of the crash or just stopped to help.
  • Today, there’s some landscaping work happening on West SR-129 at Lakeview Road. Because of this, the lanes are being closed one at a time. This started yesterday, May 21.
  • Today, there’s a lane closure happening on East SR-152 at Holm Road because of some landscaping work.
  • Today, there’s a lane closure happening on West SR-152 at Freedom Blvd because of some landscaping work.
  • Yesterday, there was a lane closure on East SR-129 at Sakata Lane because of some utility work being done.
  • Long-term projects: In Watsonville, at the intersection of Highway 152 and Holohan Road, one lane on Holohan Rd will be closed from March 11 until the end of July, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Community crime report

  • Late at night, around 1 a.m. on May 21, police went to check out a report of gunshots heard nearby. They found a car that had evidence of gunfire. The person who owns or leases this car is currently on probation, which means the police have the right to search their things. This happened close to the 800 Block of Madison St in Watsonville. The issue was someone firing a gun carelessly. (source)
  • A 40-year-old man was arrested for being drunk in public at Los Dos Potrillos around 8 p.m. on May 20. This happened near the 700 Block of Freedom B1 in Watsonville. (source)
  • A local police officer was involved in finding and detaining a 25-year-old man for robbery, having illegal items, and interfering with a police officer. This happened at 4 p.m. on May 20 near the 400 Block of E Lake Ave in Watsonville. The charges include second-degree robbery, possession of illegal paraphernalia, and obstructing a peace officer.
