Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

  • A lane on westbound Highway 152 at Clifford Drive/Ohlone Parkway is closed for asphalt paving. The closure is expected to last until July 3.
     

Property development

  • The Santa Cruz County Planning Department is currently accepting public comments on a zoning application for a project at 157 Holiday Dr. in the La Selva Planning Area, but will stop accepting comments after May 13. The project proposes to renew an existing permit for a two-bedroom vacation rental at this address, which would allow overnight lodging for periods of up to 30 days at a time. The renewal requires approval of a Vacation Rental Renewal Permit. Residents who wish to provide input or express concerns about this proposal must submit their comments before the May 13 deadline. Restaurant inspections

County officials regularly inspect food facilities to ensure compliance with state laws. Here, Lookout Santa Cruz reports both those who have passed the inspections and those that the county deems to have a “major” issue. The county’s full ongoing report can be accessed here.

  • Subway Sandwiches #64401, Inc at 200 Lee Rd., Watsonville, passed a county health inspection on April 30 with no critical issues.
     

Community crime report

  • A person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license due to a previous DUI. The incident happened near Freedom Boulevard and Gardner Avenue in Watsonville at 11 p.m. on April 30. (source)
     
  • A vehicle was damaged when someone keyed it, which is considered vandalism. This happened near the 100 block of Ginos Ct. in Watsonville at 7 a.m. on April 30. Video evidence was provided, and police are requesting a warrant for the person suspected of causing the damage. (source)
