Roadwork is affecting traffic near you

  • A pickup truck and a four-door vehicle collided at the intersection of Highway 1 south and the Highway 129 off-ramp when the truck pulled out to turn and was hit by another vehicle going over the overpass. The extent of injuries was unknown. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A lane on westbound Highway 152 at Clifford Drive/Ohlone Parkway is closed for asphalt paving. The closure is scheduled to last until July 3.
     

Property code violations

County officials cite property owners for issues such as substandard housing, illegal uses of buildings, property maintenance, abandoned appliances or furniture, construction without permits, and other issues that affect public safety and quality of life.

  • A code violation notice has been issued for the property at 151 Rancho Rd., Watsonville, under case number NV25362. The citation is for disturbing sensitive habitat, specifically oak woodland and salamander habitat, on the parcel. This violation concerns activities that have negatively impacted these environmentally sensitive areas, which are likely protected under local or state environmental regulations. It is important to note that the violation is related to environmental protection and land use compliance, not to any structural or construction issues on the property.

  • A person was arrested for hitting a hospital security guard. The incident happened near the 100 block of Nielson Street, Watsonville, at 10 a.m. on April 14. The person was given a citation and released at the police department. (source)
     
  • A person violated a court protection order by texting and trying to call the victim. Police requested a warrant for the person’s arrest for disobeying the court order. The incident happened near the 400 block of E. Lake Avenue, Watsonville, at 3 p.m. on April 21. (source)
     
  • A person was stopped for driving with a suspended license because of a previous DUI conviction and also had a local misdemeanor warrant. This happened near Winchester Drive and Hammer Drive in Watsonville at 6 p.m. on April 21. The person was cited and released at the scene. (source)
     
  • A shoplifting incident happened at Target near the 1400 block of Main Street, Watsonville. Around 4 p.m. on April 21, a person took about $160 worth of items from the store without paying and left the area. (source)
     
  • Disorderly conduct due to alcohol intoxication occurred near the 100 block of California Street, Watsonville, at 9 a.m. on April 21. The person involved was taken to a sobering center and arrested. (source)
