UC Santa Cruz has moved most classes online due to a pro-Palestine grad student strike, with a decision on the legality of the strike expected by week’s end. Local wildlife groups are seeking financial support from Santa Cruz County to aid in the rehabilitation of starving pelicans, as the number of sick birds begins to decline. Santa Cruz County’s tourism industry has seen a significant post-pandemic recovery, with a 35% increase in visitor spending since 2019, the highest in California.
