New Bohemia Brewing Co. has poured its last pint. The Pleasure Point craft brewery known affectionately as NuBo closed this week after nine years.
Owners Dan and Sarah Satterthwaite announced the closure Saturday on social media. They did not give a reason for the closure, saying only, “Ultimately, that is really all that needs to be said. Anything more is just a long, and difficult conversation about operating a business today.”
The couple opened NuBo nine years ago on 41st Avenue, and specialized in brewing modern takes on traditional European lagers and ales like Czech pilsner, hefeweizen and Vienna lager, as well as Western styles like IPA. The two-story brewery and taproom frequently held trivia nights, pop-ups and live music.
In the post, the Satterthwaites expressed appreciation for their customers and community. “I am filled with the satisfaction of being a part of a community of good people and supporting that community through donations, music, festivals, great beer and food, and a legacy of excellent staff,” it reads.
The Satterthwaites go on to say that they have not laid out plans for the future, and aim to take a break after the brewery closes to focus on their family.
