The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man last seen at Chaminade Resort & Spa.

The sheriff’s office said the man was involved in a domestic dispute at the Chaminade on Monday, Sept. 8, and fled the scene on foot before deputies could arrive at the hotel, according to Sgt. Zach West.

Deputies searched for the man in a wooded area for several days. Members of the sheriff’s search and rescue team located the body in a steep ravine on Thursday.

The cause of death has not been determined, according to the sheriff’s office, which said it would not be disclosing more information about the case. “The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the decedent’s family and friends,” the agency said in a statement.
