Nonprofit Sempervirens Fund is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a Redwoods Festival this Sunday.

Nestled in the ancient redwood forest around Roaring Camp in Felton, the family-friendly event will honor more than a century of the land trust’s redwood conservation in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Founded in 1900 to combat widespread clear-cutting of ancient redwoods, Sempervirens Fund led the creation of Big Basin Redwoods State Park and has since become a pioneer in climate-smart forest management.

Guests can enjoy the fruits of these labors firsthand with scenic train rides through the trees and guided hikes in partnership with Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. Festivities also include live music, food trucks and a raptor demonstration, giving attendees a chance to see the birds of prey up close.

The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at Roaring Camp, 540 Graham Hill Rd. in Felton. Admission to the event is free and parking reservations are encouraged. For more information, visit Semperviren Fund’s website.
