The City of Scotts Valley is preparing to begin work on Glenwood Drive, which sustained significant storm damage in mid-November. The emergency repair work is expected to start next week and will last four weeks if weather permits.

On Nov. 11, heavy rain caused 30 feet of the embankment along Glenwood Drive to fail, rendering the bike lane unusable and exposing part of the Scotts Valley Water District’s main water line. While crews were able to immediately isolate the water main to prevent damage to the structure, more work is necessary to bring the road back into shape.

The city’s public works crews have already installed several temporary measures, according to a City of Scotts Valley social media post, including the closure of the road’s bike lane and installation of erosion control measures. The city is monitoring the site to ensure safety.

The city council approved emergency work which is expected to begin next week, including new barriers and traffic control measures like illuminated stop signs. The road will be temporarily reduced to one lane with alternating two-way traffic.
