More than 20,000 still without power as storm begins to exit Santa Cruz County
As expected, Santa Cruz County received a drenching overnight Saturday into Sunday, accompanied by strong winds. More than 4 inches of rain fell in parts of the mountains, while more than 2 inches of rain fell in lower county elevations. Stormy weather will continue through Sunday, but is forecast to taper off during the night and early morning, as predicted since late last week.

Evacuation warnings, power outages as Santa Cruz County braces for more rain, wind and swells
The next round of rain is set to begin Friday afternoon, in time for the evening commute. The storm is expected to bring 1 to 2 inches in low-lying parts of the county and 2 to 4 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains, along with strong winds and a 15-20% chance of isolated thunderstorms.

PG&E investigating outage in the Watsonville area
More than 1,600 customers in and around Watsonville were affected by a power outage as of noon on Wednesday. Pacific Gas & Electric was investigating the cause and aiming to restore power by 2:30 p.m., though a map indicated that it had come back on for many customers by 12:30.

Storms 2023: Power to be restored Friday to 23 Felton customers
The power went out in Felton during storms that hit the community around 1 a.m. on Jan. 8. Pacific Gas & Electric crews were unable to begin repairs in the area of Pine Drive and Redwood Drive until Jan. 23 because of a mudslide, flooding, downed trees and damaged equipment.
