Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on August 14

  • A traffic collision happened at the intersection of Soquel Dr and Rio Del Mar Blvd. in Aptos. It was a non-injury incident, and efforts were made to clear the vehicles from the road. The incident was reported today.
     
  • A hit and run incident happened at the intersection of Brommer St. and 17th Ave. in the Eastside/Live Oak area. No injuries were reported. The incident was reported to NETCOM for further information.
     
  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for road excavation. The closure will last until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. Traffic control is in place, and the closure is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue will have traffic delays and lane closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Construction is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with specific work on April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
