Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on September 18

  • There was a construction-related incident on northbound Highway 1 at Mar Monte in Aptos today, and CHP provided assistance.
     
  • A three-car crash with minor injuries happened today at 7:48 p.m. on Highway 1 northbound at State Park in Aptos. The vehicles involved were a gray Toyota Prius, a gray Tesla (with airbags deployed), and a Nissan Sentra. All cars were moved to the center divider, and the road was reopened after the incident. About 30-40 feet of guardrail was damaged. Tow trucks and Caltrans responded to the scene.
     
  • A traffic hazard was reported around 7:45 p.m. today on northbound Highway 1 at State Park in Aptos. A vehicle with its lights off was stopped in the #2 lane. The location was the same as a previous incident involving three vehicles. CHP and other units responded to the scene.
     
  • Highway 1 will have lane and ramp closures for ongoing drainage improvement work. The construction area runs from the Trafton Road Undercrossing in Monterey County to one mile north of Larkin Valley Road in Santa Cruz County, near Eastside / Live Oak.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • PG&E has started work to replace a gas main in the Arroyo and Jolon Drive neighborhood off Green Valley Road in Corralitos /. There is a soft road closure in the area, and construction is expected to continue through November 25.
