Drivers will encounter more roadwork on Soquel Avenue between 17th and Chanticleer avenues this weekend as workers put the finishing touches on Highway 1 improvements.
From 6 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday, travelers will find one-way reversing flagging control, with delays of 10 minutes possible as construction crews pave the roadway. The work is part of a project to add auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements to Highway 1 between 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive and aid in construction of the new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue.
Crews will perform grinding and excavation, place rock and pave with vibratory rollers. Final striping and signage happen at a later date. Message and directional signs will be in place to alert and guide travelers before the work zone.
The Regional Transportation Commission recently announced the opening of the new north- and southbound auxiliary lanes between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Avenue/Drive interchanges.
