Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on September 22
- South Highway 1 at Park Avenue in Capitola and Soquel is facing closures because of paving work. The closure will last until Nov. 19.
- Highway 9 at Pool Drive in San Lorenzo Valley has alternating lane closures because of bridge work. This will continue until April 30, 2027, at 6:59 a.m.
- Highway 9 at the San Lorenzo River and Kings Creek bridges in Santa Cruz County will have one-way reversing traffic control during the day and night from Monday to Friday this week. This is due to ongoing bridge replacement work.
- One southbound lane of Highway 17 near Scotts Valley will be closed for culvert and vegetation work on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Thursday, Sept. 24. The right lane (#2 lane) will be closed each day starting at 8:30 a.m.
- A stalled vehicle was reported on the right shoulder of Highway 1 North at Park in Capitola / Soquel today. A woman holding a baby was seen outside the vehicle. A large truck was also stopped on the right shoulder, adding to the traffic hazard.
- A gray Toyota Tacoma hit a deer on Highway 1 North near State Park in Aptos. The vehicle’s bumper fell off, but no one was hurt. The incident was reported today.
