The City of Watsonville has tapped Nick Calubaquib to join Nathalie Manning as deputy city manager.

Calubaquib, who has worked for the city for 13 years, will oversee community outreach, strategic planning and citywide initiatives, while Manning will continue to focus on human resources and internal operations across all city departments, Watsonville City Manager Tamara Vides said in a statement Wednesday.
On top of his responsibilities as deputy city manager, Calubaquib will continue to serve as director of the parks and community services department.
“This leadership team will work collaboratively with department directors to ensure Watsonville continues delivering exceptional services, fostering innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our residents,” said Vides. “Nick and Nathalie bring unique strengths to our organization, and together, their leadership will help us address challenges, seize opportunities and keep Watsonville a vibrant and thriving community.”
The new appointment comes after Mayor Maria Orozco and Mayor Pro Tempore Kristal Salcido were sworn in at last week’s city council meeting.
