The Watsonville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man recorded vandalizing St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish on the afternoon of March 14.
Security camera footage shows the man pointing at one of the church’s stained glass windows for several seconds and hiding a large brick behind his back before throwing it. He walked away before officers arrived on the scene.
The historic church, located at 721 Main St., was occupied by three parishioners at the time, police said. Nobody was injured, but the damage will cost the church more than $10,000. The suspect appears to be in his 60s, police said, and was wearing a dark gray shirt, blue jacket, light pants, and blue and green sneakers.
The Watsonville Police Department asked witnesses or people who have any information about the incident, please call at 831-471-1151.
