Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on Apr. 23

  • There was a construction-related incident on Highway 17 North at the intersection with Sugarloaf Road in Scotts Valley. The California Highway Patrol assisted with the situation. This was reported today.
     
  • Rocks fell onto the slow lane of Highway 17 at the Glenwood Cutoff in Scotts Valley, creating a traffic hazard. This was reported today.
     
  • There was a construction-related issue on Highway 1 South at the intersection with Buena Vista in Watsonville/Pajaro. The incident was first reported at 6:44 p.m. today, and updates were provided later in the evening.
     
  • The northbound Soquel Drive offramp on Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel will be closed for construction on Thursday, April 24. This is part of a project to add auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements between the 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive interchanges, as well as to help build a new bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Chanticleer Avenue.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road in Scotts Valley is closed from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive due to a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place. The project is expected to last until February 2026.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue is closed for the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, weather permitting. Construction also took place on April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
     
  • Green Valley Road, from Holohan Road to Mesa Verde Road in Watsonville/Pajaro, will have lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is expected to last until April 30, weather permitting. Expect delays or find another route.
     
  • A single lane on Little Basin Rd in San Lorenzo Valley is closed from December 23 to April 25, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., to build two retaining walls, causing traffic delays.
     
  • A single lane on Little Basin Road near Big Basin Way in San Lorenzo Valley is closed for storm damage repair. Expect traffic delays from January 16 to May 13, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.
