Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on July 2

  • A report of smoke in the trees was made at 8:19 p.m. on Highway 17 North near Scotts Valley Drive. It was initially thought to be a fire, but after investigation, no fire was found.
     
  • The southbound lanes of Highway 17 in Scotts Valley are facing closures for drainage work. The closure will last until today at 7:01 a.m.
     
  • There was a traffic incident today on Highway 1 South at Soquel, where the California Highway Patrol assisted with a construction-related issue.
     
  • There was a construction-related issue on Highway 1 North at Mar Monte in Aptos, and the California Highway Patrol assisted with it. This was reported today.
     
  • Southbound lanes of Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel are facing closures for roadwork. The closure will continue until August 29 at 6:30 a.m.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road in Scotts Valley, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for a pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place.
     
  • Richmond Drive and Portola Drive at 24th Avenue will have traffic delays and lane closures due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Construction is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with specific work on April 12-13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.
