Road incidents as of 9:30 p.m. on May 21

  • A traffic collision happened today involving a Chevrolet Suburban and a pedestrian at the intersection of Soquel Dr and Porter St. in Capitola/Soquel. It was first reported as a major injury collision but was later downgraded to a minor injury. Emergency services, including fire and CHP, responded to the scene. The incident occurred near a fire station.
     
  • South Highway 1 in Capitola/Soquel is facing closures for roadway excavation. The closure will last until 6:30 a.m. on August 29.
     
  • The California Highway Patrol is assisting with construction on Highway 1 North at Soquel, Eastside/Live Oak. This assistance is expected to continue until about 2:00 a.m. today.
     
  • The California Highway Patrol helped with maintenance work in Aptos, Santa Cruz County. This was reported today.
     
  • There was a traffic incident on Highway 1 North at Buena Vista in Watsonville/Pajaro. It started at 7:07 p.m. today. The southbound lanes #1 and #2 between Mar Monte and Buena Vista were closed, and when traffic returned to two lanes, the #1 lane stayed closed.
     
  • There was a traffic incident at the intersection of Highway 9 and Glen Arbor Rd in San Lorenzo Valley. The California Highway Patrol helped with construction, and one-way traffic control was used to manage vehicles. This was scheduled to last from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. It was reported today.
     

Long-term projects

These have been going on for a while, but are still worth keeping in mind.

  • A single lane on Sims Road and La Madrona Drive, from Brook Knoll Road to 600 La Madrona Drive, is closed for the SCWD and SLVWD pipeline project. The closure is in effect daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with traffic control measures in place.
     
  • Richmond Drive at Portola Drive and 24th Avenue in Eastside/Live Oak is closed due to the Rodeo pump station capacity upgrade project. Expect traffic delays and lane closures on Richmond and Portola Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, weather permitting. On April 12-13, construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
