Drivers can expect traffic delays during a significant Highway 9 maintenance paving and striping project between Felton and Ben Lomond that is continuing through January.
Drivers on Highway 9 between El Solyo Heights Drive in Felton and California Drive in Ben Lomond can expect traffic delays of up to 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. In a news release, Caltrans District 5 said drivers should be prepared to encounter one-way reversing traffic control during this period.
The project will also affect drivers overnight on Thursday, with one-way traffic controls starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m. Friday.
Caltrans spokesperson Kevin Drabinski told Lookout that the major project work should end this week. There is a possibility that traffic signal testing might extend through Monday, which could cause minor slowdowns and alternating lane closures while workers test traffic lights.
Granite Construction is leading the $2.4 million paving and striping project.
The project began on Dec. 4 and was initially expected to be completed by the end of 2024. It’s mainly intended to extend the life of the existing pavement, improve drainage and upgrade guardrail and sign panels to current standards.
